Plan and Review Sydney Trip

Opera House
Sydney is the largest, oldest and most cosmopolitan city in Australia with a reputation as one of the world's most beautiful and liveable cities .A city brimming with history, nature, culture, art, fashion, cuisine, design, and set next to miles of ocean coastline and sandy surf beaches.


Day 1:-
1) Plan your trip such that you reach Sydney early in the morning of Day 1 .
2) Hire a Car on rent for a Day from EuropCar/Hertz/Avis .
3) Checkin to your Hotel located near Katoomba .
This place is around 75 km from Sydney towards Blue mountains .
Resort -
4) Visit Jenolan Caves and Blue Mountains .
5) Come back to Hotel and rest .

Day 2:-
6) Checkout the Hotel , Checkin at the Hotel in Sydney CBD .Return the Rented Car .
7) Go to Circular Quay ,enjoy the View of Oprah House .
8) Reach the Wharf/Jetty No. 3 for going to Manly Beach .
The ferry reaches Manly in aprrox. 45 min .Refer the following Link :-
8)Enjoy a trip to Manly Aquarium and Art Meuseum near the Wharf at Manly
9)Enjoy Surfing , swimming and relaxing on Manly Beach.

Beer Cafe
10)Come back to the wharf and enjoy Beer and meal at "23 bavarian bier cafe" .
Note- Donot miss Unfiltered German Wheat Beer at the Cafe
11) Come back to the hotel in CBD .Freshen up and get set for the Dinner Cruise :-
12)Enjoy the lighnening at Oprah House.

Darling Harbour
Day 3:-
13) Checkout from your hotel .
Most hotels would allow  you to keep your luggage in the locker .
So you can save on the rent for day 3 , if you want.
14) You have series of activities to do on Darling harbour .
What you should not miss :-
1) Sydney Jet Boat Ride - An adventurous jet boat ride :- - 1 hour
2) Whale watching Trip : 3 hours .
3) Madame Tussaud Museum : 2 hours
4) Sydney Eye
5) World Largest I-MAX

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST : A rough average cost per person would come around 500$/person.
1) Deluxe Resorts for 2 in Katoomba(Storey Grange) : around AUD 120-AUD230
2) Budget Hotels for 2 in CBD (Hotel Vibe): around AUD 110- AUD 175
3) Attractions at Darling Harbour :-
(a)Ticket to Sydney Aquarium : AUD 34 in Circular Quay
(b)Ticket to Aquarium : AUD 20 in Manly
(c)Ticket to Madam Tussaud  Wax Museum : AUD 44
(d)Ticket to Sydney Eye :  AUD 28
(e)Sydney Widlife : AUD 37

4) Taxi fares :-
(a) I stayed at Sydney CBD .
(a.1)MaxiTaxi takes approx. AUD 60 from Sydney Airport to Sydney CBD .
(a.2)Also you can use Train from Airport to Sydney Central at 3.50 AUD /ticket/per person .
(b) Hotel at CBD to Circular Quay in MaxiTaxi: approx 11 AUD .
(c) Hotel at CBD to Darling Harbour in MaxiTaxi : approx 11 AUD .
(d) Darling Harbour  to Circular Quay in Maxi Taxi : approx 18 AUD .
(e) Alternatively you can use the Free Tourist Bus Service running in CBD for tourists .
The most desirable commutation route is from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour .
It has only few stops , which are marked with green .
(f) You can also take up the Hop and Hop on Open to Air Double Decker bus service for  AUD 25/perperson.
5)Sydney Dinner Cruises : AUD 110- AUD160 , please book atleat 3-4 weeks in Advance.

6) Average Meals : AUD 20 / per person / per meal including 1 drink
Note - 5 meals can roughly come around AUD 500.
In case you want to reduce the trip cost , you can exceed your expenses on hotel
by selecting your rooms with kitchen facility and do a self cooking as required .

7)Tiger Airways :Return Fare(Melbourne-Sydney-Melbourne) 180/per person
Note - This can be significantly reduced to 100/per person , if you donot have any restrictions on the day    and time of travel .Tiger Airways offers fares starting from AUD 40/per person for the Return Fare.

8) Manly Ferry (Return Transfers)- AUD 14/per Adult
9) Single ticket of Monorail is AUD 5 .

Jet Boat Ride


The overall experience was pretty much average,since we planned our trip for a very short duration of 2 days .The weather was not good and it was raining throughout the DAY 1 of our trip .
We had a flight back home to Melbourne on Sunday Night .So we had to miss the Oprah House lightening .
Despite the disappointments due to Weather , we enjoyed the opportunity to visit the most happening city of world .The best part was the Food and beer .We tried all kinds of beer right from Tasmania's James Boag´s  to German Unfiltered beers .

DAY 1 :-
Reached Circular Quay at 10:00 am , Boarded the ferry to Manly Beach .
Enjoyed the beach , did some shopping .
Enjoyed the Manly Aquarium .This is run by the same company and is less crowded than Darling Harbour Aquarium .
Enjoyed the Art Gallery adjoining Manly Aquarium .
Came to Bavarian Beer Cafe . Had 2 rounds of drinks .
Came to Manly Sea Food restaurat . Had Beer battered fish , aling with fries and beer .
Came back to Circular Quay around and to our Hotel .
Then after a bit of rest and change went to Darling Harbour in Madame Tussad Meuseum .
Finished our day with Pizza's on a nice restaurant overlooking opera house and Sydney Harbour Bridge .

Note - Manly is also a Nice place to stay as well and paradise for surfers .
Ferry service are available from Circular Quay to Manly every half an  hour .

Attraction@Darling Harbour
DAY 2 :-
We went to Darling Harbour.The place is very beautiful .
Enjoyed time in world largest I-MAX .
Then we had a ride in Monorail .
Then we had a very nice lunch at a very nice restaurant overlooking the backwaters at Darling Harbour.
Then we went to Opera House for some photo session and enjoying the sit-out .
We enjoyed a couple of street shows .
The time went by and we reached our hotel .Picked our luggage and set out for Sydney Airport .

Overall a very nice place to break your work schedules and enjoy .
No wonder why its the happening place .
Note - Its good if you commute to Melbourne to Sydney by Road or Train .The Journey is quite picturesque
