Option 2: Walk - If you are willing to undertake a approximate 2 km walk from belgrave station , it should not take more than 15-20 minutes one side.

Early morning has sun rays right in front of lens .
Puffing Billy runs from Belgrave at 10.30 a.m ,11.10a.m ,12.30 a.m ,3:00a.m .
Best time to capture is 3:00 p.m , however you can try to choose your spot when  12:30 p.m train runs.

Option 1: Drive - I highly recommend to take up the tourist drive along the puffing billy railway track (Belgrave-Gembrook rd) .Takes around 40 min without stopping .There are plenty of spots to get beautiful shots of Puffing Billy . 
Option 2 :Bus - Board on  Bus Number 695 from Belgrave station, Disembark at Stop - 
Emerald-Monbulk Rd .

For a Romantic Spot , ride on the train to Lakeside station,where the train terminates .You must be quick to get off and pose in front of the tracks while the steam is still prevalent and heritage glossy engines are in the background .
Or
Travel directly to Lakeside station , and enjoy a nice Barbecue and Paddle boating alongside Emerald Lake. As soon as the train arrives , wait until the people starts disembarking . Pose in front of the tracks while the steam is still prevalent .
